HONOUR
JELSDAL is a tribute to founder Mick Jelsdal Jørgensen’s grandfather, Ib Jelsdal, a Danish WWII resistance fighter and craftsman. His courage, resilience and respect for craftsmanship are part of the spirit behind JELSDAL.
Freedom Fighter
Ib Jelsdal joined the Danish resistance during WWII as a teenager, securing weapons and ammunition for the Allies.
After the war, he helped maintain law and order in Copenhagen, where this notable photograph was taken of him.
He later trained with the Royal Danish Navy and spent his career as a blacksmith at the Royal Danish Air Force Air Base.
Throughout his life, he was a dedicated member of the Danish Home Guard, founded by WWII Freedom Fighters in 1945.
Grandson & Founder
Founder Mick Jelsdal Jørgensen, a savvy entrepreneur with a passion for horology, began his journey with the popular Instagram account WRISTPORN in 2013, followed by the acclaimed WATCHBANDIT website in 2014, a leading supplier of microbrand watches in Europe.
His deep knowledge of the watch industry led to the creation of JELSDAL, a brand honoring his grandfather, Ib Jelsdal. Mick finds joy in working on JELSDAL, as it keeps the memory of his grandfather alive, celebrating his craftsmanship through handmade goods.
